"My son loved the Ranch dip, my daughter loved the plum sauce, my husband loved the steak sauce, and the baby LOVED the sauerkraut. I love how easy every recipe has been to make. This book makes it so simple to stay stocked. I can't thank you enough. What a lifesaver!"
Condiments are a part of nearly every meal, yet they are one of the most common sources of hidden sugars and artificial ingredients.
Making your own condiments is one of the EASIEST ways to make strides toward helping your family be as healthy as they can be.
Let’s face it – condiments are part of nearly every meal.
What’s salad without salad dressing, chips without salsa, or even egg rolls without their quintessential plum sauce?
Yet store-bought condiments are absolutely laden with high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, and even genetically-modified foods. Since these foods are part of our everyday eating routines, that means we end up eating more than the occasional treat made with those undesirable ingredients.
But there’s a simple solution. Make your own!
Making your own condiments takes only a few minutes a day and it’s one of the EASIEST ways to make large strides in keeping those unwanted ingredients out of your home and in helping your family be as healthy as they can be.
And I want to equip you with truly simple ways to eat better.
As an author, business owner, wife, homeschool teacher, and mom to four kids from preschooler to teen, I know EXACTLY how it feels to be crazy-busy and to have WAAAAY more responsibilities and demands on my time than I could ever manage.
For years I've been adamant and passionate about taking care of my family naturally, about serving healthy meals, and about supporting local food systems - but I still remember acutely the feeling of overwhelm when my husband and I decided we wanted to do things more naturally, but I had no clue where I wanted to start.
So I started with the basics, which included overhauling the things we ate at every meal - making simple salad dressings, making easy sauces from scratch, and whisking ingredients I already had on hand to make ketchups and mustards that rivaled any squirt-bottle, store-bought versions we had ever eaten.
The results were that I quickly discovered how EASY and how SATISFYING it was to make simple things from scratch, and that confidence quickly snowballed into the other decisions that made us healthier than we had been in years.
I have no doubt that the strategies that worked for me can work even better for you!
"My son has multiple allergies, so it's hard to find foods he can actually eat. I love this book because I can see at a glance what's in each sauce and see if he can eat it. Or switch out the ingredients we know how to swap. Either way, this book has made living with his allergies so much easier!"

How do I know these recipes will work?
Restocking the Pantry has been a bestseller in the Nourishing Joy shop for nearly 10 years. Way-back-when when the first edition was first published, 254 recipe testers signed up to test every recipe in the book before publication.
Due to the popularity of the first edition, Kresha (the author) was invited by Adams Media, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, to publish a paperback companion edition in 2014. Needless to say, due to the rigorous demands of book publishing, those recipes were tested again and again (and again) before publication.
And best of all, Kresha has used these recipes in her own kitchen with her own four children - the toughest critics of all - for nearly a decade and a half. They are tried-and-true in the truest sense of the word.

I am allergic to corn/peanuts/eggs/soy and eat kosher/vegetarian/grain-free/dairy-free. Can I still use this book?
Like all recipes at NourishingJoy.com, the one criteria for our recipes is 100% real food and no industrially processed anything.
Many of the recipes DO fit the above criteria, but they’re not created with that in mind, so not EVERY recipe will be corn-free, grain-free, kosher, or whatever your specific need may be.
That said, our recipes are SUPER-EASY to customize in most cases, so if you do have food sensitivities, you can easily swap out ingredients for ones you already use.
Again, our primary aim is to provide real food recipes that make it easy for families to not rely on boxed, canned, and processed ingredients, and to use fresh, easy-to-find ingredients.
