Place all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer until lingonberries burst, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool completely at room temperature and then chill in refrigerator. Lingonberry sauce will thicken as it cools.
