Confession: I used to SHUDDER at the very idea of meal planning.
Food is my love language and I've always loved to cook according to mood, taking my inspiration from the weather or whatever crossed my mind. To me, writing meals down was the equivalent of hog-tying me to a fence post. No fun, and just as restrictive.
And because I didn't know what was for dinner on any given day, we usually ended up eating around 9:00 or 10:00 each night. That was all fine when it was just my husband and me. In fact, we rather liked it. We joked that it made us reminisce about our times spent abroad. :)
But then we had a child, then two, then four. And suddenly, if we hadn't had dinner by the time one of the two-year-olds decided he was done with the day, dinnertime chaos became bedtime chaos became no-one-had-enough-sleep morning time chaos.

Detailed prep options. The best remedy for stress at dinnertime is intentional planning and preparation, so prep options are written right into every recipe. That way you can prep as little or as much as you like, whenever it works for you.
This feature comes from my many years of working in fine dining resturants, where every shift begins with all ingredients chopped, mixed, and ready. In a restaurant, when a customer places an order, the chef isn't back in the kitchen chopping the onions or mincing the garlic - all of that was done hours previously. That way, the meal can be cooked quickly and efficiently and served while it's still at the perfect temperature. The idea works equally well in the home kitchen - whatever you can prep ahead makes meal time SO much simpler.
100% real food. Our recipes are developed around the idea that our bodies shouldn't ingest processed anything - at least when it comes to our food. So we use whole foods every time.
Note: We do make exception for things like canned tomatoes and dried pasta. If those are not ingredients you consider to be foods you'd like in your home, these meal plans won't fit you well.
Weekly Dread Day recipes. Each week we include one "Dread Day" meal, which is a meal that can be on the table in less than 15 minutes from walking in the door. These recipes do often include prep that needs to be done earlier, but nonetheless, they're perfect solutions to have a quick meal ready on a particularly busy evening or a night when everyone needs to eat at different times.
Comprehensive, yet flexible. Our meal plans provide nearly everything you need to plan all your meals every week, yet allow you to pick and choose how you want to use them. Also, since our recipes use whole foods and mostly single ingredients, most recipes allow for easy substitutions whenever you need to swap ingredients due to dietary restrictions or lifestyle choices. Most done-for-you meal plans don't allow for this level of customizability.
